What’s the point of a CV if you can’t accurately determine what I do and know? CVs aren’t meant to be full of teeth-breaking words. Here’s a CV I hope you’ll enjoy reading.

The same website design or online system doesn’t last forever, especially in this post-Covid era. Moreover, dumping all shareable projects here doesn’t give a good idea about my skills. So here are a few recent work examples that might give you goosebumps!

Development

Development

I can use PHP, SQL & JS to their full potential. With JS, I’ve built software that converts images taken from 6 different angles to a 360-degree interactive photo, accessible through any web browser. I’ve recently built a new PHP framework capable of storing and processing large amounts of data using very few resources. It’s equipped with patent-pending technologies that convert usual human entry to SQL queries and efficiently execute them. To put things in perspective, a database with 1.7 million entries hosted on a $5 VPS gives results of 3 consecutive searches containing a total of 25 conditions(some are regular expressions, some are geometric calculations) within 700 milliseconds.

UX/UI Design

UX/UI Design

My first freelance design and website project was in 2014, when UpWork was called Odesk. In 2011, when I was in high school, my summer job was developing websites for local businesses. Unfortunately, none of them have the same websites anymore, or I’d mention those! However, here are some of my recent designs. They are incredibly optimized, cool looking and pack a lot of functionality.

Cloud & Servers

Cloud & Servers

My career started with cPanel & WHM. Usually would get them for free with shared hostings. However, when I first moved to VPS in 2016, I wanted to find an alternative, cheaper solution allowing me to host all my sites on a VPS with a GUI server controller without costing me a lot. I’ve tried Ajenti, Sentora, Vesta Panel, ZPanel, and Virtualmin and finally settled on Webmin until 2019. I was so familiar with CLI at that point I didn’t need to have a control panel any longer. I started using Cloudflare in 2014 when SSL was a fancy word. I used to give all my freelance clients free SSL at that time while Godaddy was charging $120+ for one year SSL certificate.

Today, I can optimize low resource servers to handle big data at an extremely fast speed; through load balancers, caching such as varnish, opcache, reverse proxy, etc.

On the right side of this section(below on the phone), I’ve added a flowchart of how this website(asifur.com) is hosted.

3D Modeling Project from 2015

Graphics

I started photography in 7th grade, using my mom’s camcorder, which could take low-quality photos. I began editing photos in grade 8; that’s 2010 for you. In the same year, I customized GTA San Andreas and published it as CD in the local market by adding additional missions, new models and changing the audio language. Started professional graphics design in 2014.

Initially, I would remove particular objects or backgrounds from photos. Then I moved to photo retouch & manipulation—I started videography and editing in 2015 when I made my first short film.

I’ve directed TIFF interviews, made graphics for non-profit organizations, such as LebMASH and even covered weddings and birthday events.

Marketing

I started digital marketing in 2015 with Google Adwords, Facebook Ads and SEO. Soon I started integrating some of my invented technologies to automate the SEO process. In 2019, I built a system that generated over 200,000 pages with unique content for different cities. Webpages generated through this system got first place on Google search results within one month!

My marketing practices brought extremely positive ROI to all my customers. Thus I’ve never lost a recurring marketing customer to a bad result.

Since January 2016 Mr. Rahman has demonstrated reliability, eagerness to learn, and strong design and programming skills on several jobs; we very much hope to continue our relationship and grow the extent of our work together.

Literally, one of the best I have worked with. Asif is just great, no words would do him justice.

Asif’s marketing techniques has almost doubled our monthly new patient acquisition since the begining of the pandemic. This is an amazing result and everyone at RWD is thankful for his services.

Business

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. Even in high school, I chose to make websites for local vendors instead of getting a typical summer job. I’ve built several successful businesses over the past decade and helped build companies that were stepping stones for something bigger.

I am an expert in analyzing and planning IT-related businesses, integrating technologies with business models, setting up infrastructure, and hiring and managing people to reach the goal faster. I provide great insight into a business’s current performance in oppose to how it should perform.

Had to put accordion in this section

Experience

I grew up in an environment where computers were seen as an expensive entertainment devices. My parents did think I had no future when I spent so much time on computers. But that didn’t last more than a year.

Toronto, Ontario

Developed and managed online presence and critical web infrastructure to operate the business.

Created web systems such as:

  • New Patient Form integrated with patient management software also makes offline printable pdf files.
  • Feedback request system from patients. Satisfied patients get redirected to Google to submit their reviews.
  • Virtual waiting room. Send reminder SMS notifications to a patient before an appointment. Notify the patient when the operating room is ready for them. This was useful during the pandemic when the dental clinic’s waiting rooms were closed.
  • Bulk email sender to notify single or all patients at once.

Created branding and marketing material, such as:

  • Multiple asset redesigns to improve the look and promote the brand boldly. This reduced the bounce rate dramatically while increasing the average session duration.
  • Offline & Online branding through marketing simply to wish a holiday or respect tradition. This increased brand recognition among the local target audience.
  • Managed and posted creative content on all social media, including Google My Business, to keep their audience engaged.
  • Effectively increased rating and reputation on different platforms to increase trust between patients.
  • Ran advertising campaigns using creative images and video commercials to acquire new patients when we’ve received enough brand recognition.

Buzzy Branding is a Digital Marketing & SaaS platform provider in USA & Canada. The job’s most challenging part was determining each client’s needs, strategizing, collaborating with other teams, developing systems and marketing content and delivering in a short period. It was a tech startup with a highly fast-paced environment.

Created over 50 websites and developed unique systems & processes that increased monthly recurring profit by ten times.

Websites I’ve created:

  • Visit https://www.buzzybranding.com/portfolio/ to view all the websites I’ve developed.
  • BuzzyBranding’s website hasn’t been updated since I left in 2020. Their footer copyright section and image URLs are proof of that.

Online systems I’ve created:

  • An automatic billing and reporting system where customers can view their reports, create tickets, manage profiles, and a recurring billing system.
  • Advanced shop with capabilities to customize packages with addons, recurring or single billing variations based on customer’s location and other stats.
  • Automated SEO content generation and promotion. This system created over 200,000 pages for most cities across North America and fooled Google by giving the impression that Buzzy Branding does business in every town, sector, and service. The system could generate unique content for each page through a special algorithm, making search engines think each page was manually created. A static URL for each page also helped.
  • An email marketing tool makes each email look manually written, avoiding spam protection and increasing inbox deliverability.
  • IT infrastructure setup, such as communications channels(business email and phone), cloud servers, optimized for Python, PHP & Javascript SaaS projects and web hosting.
  • Lead generation tools analyze multiple data points as input and collect data from various sources, such as Google, Social Media & websites. This gave us accurate data on which businesses required online marketing as it could identify older website designs or companies with a low web presence.
  • Competition analysis tools gave deeper insights between our customers and their competitors and indicated solutions to beat the competition.

To improve customer acquisition and retention, I’ve worked with the CEO and board members and implemented strategies such as:

  • Outsource and manage particular expertise at a lower cost from countries like India and Bangladesh while decreasing overall time spent on customers’ projects each month.
  • Hired and managed experts on a temporary or full-time basis to accommodate extra workload when needed.
  • Planned and priced packages to entertain everyone’s needs.
  • Created strategies to involve customers as little as possible and find ways to deliver end-goal, which is more customers for them.
  • Communicated and collaborated with customers to accommodate their needs and strategies and discuss insights.
  • Collaborated with business development, outreach and other departments to maximize lead acquisition.
  • Integrated new technologies to automate and smoothen new client sign-up and servicing process.
  • Managed and oversaw the R&D team and developed proprietary software that helped the board members base their private equity firm.

There is much more to it. This was a great experience.

Wizpi360 is a marketing company servicing automotive dealers in Greater Toronto Area.

Developed unique processes to service automotive customers at the shortest possible time and most affordable cost.

Systems I’ve developed:

  • Easy-to-use, automated project collaboration system between different departments, such as photography, marketing and editing.
  • Project deliverable sharing and management through a client portal.
  • 360-degree photo generation from static photos and sharing code generator based on customer’s website technology to seamlessly integrate and show 360-degree photos on customer’s website.

Processes I’ve developed:

  • Efficient ways of capturing automotive photos while maintaining quality.
  • Share photographer’s captures with outsourced editors within 6 hours of capture.
  • After extensive processing and quality control, deliver edited images within 24 hours of capture.
  • Maintain communication with automotive dealers and update deliverables within a short time.

Furthermore, I’ve developed and marketed the Wizpi360 website and its services through search engines and social network promotions.

The business started falling apart when 2 of the four co-founders became busy with other companies they were involved in. All responsibilities fell onto the remaining two co-founders, where one refused to get investment to scale the business.

At that point, I solely:

  • Managed their online services
  • Photographed cars when other photographers were not available
  • Managed and collaborated with the editing team and ensured the quality of deliverables.
  • Managed invoicing & billing.
  • Developed web systems for automated invoicing, customer portal, and unique systems to optimize and view photos efficiently.

Developed a trading system where people can use this web system to list their classifieds and their want in return. Whether someone is selling their used item to upgrade to a different version or simply to replace it with something else, this process would help them by consolidating selling, searching for new things, and buying into a straightforward process, exchange. Downgrading people would usually receive cash incentives along with the item while exchanging.

I’ve developed the following to determine market fit:

  • Working beta version of exchange system with the ability to post/engage with classifieds built with WordPress
  • Marketing campaigns to attract new visitors
  • Founded a non-profit organization to spread the name “Bodlao”; which continues to grow even today. Check out https://bodlao.org

The project didn’t receive enough response. However, this has given me a great insight into people’s needs.

Toronto, Ontario

I wanted to do something different at this stage. I felt like my current responsibilities weren’t presenting new challenges. It limited my capabilities to learn something new or experiment with new things.

During this period, I’ve mostly built websites and systems for customers I’ve acquired through referrals. Some of the projects include:

  • Website with online ordering for a Latin-American-themed US quick-serve restaurant chain
  • Website for mobile car detailing, payroll software, health network, expert witness, pediatric care centre, custom home builder, etc.
  • Made connections with people that led to my next startup, Wizpi360

eBOSS Canada is one of the fastest growing Canadian entertainment magazines that publish industry news, jobs, casting calls, events, and many more!

I’ve worked with the founder closely to bring her vision to life. Due to the high volume of traffic and frequent requests from visitors, there was always something new to add or bugs to fix. One of the challenging parts was that the system was built on poorly optimized WordPress full of third-party plugins. My team needed to implement or optimize new elements on top of this fragile infrastructure because the founder refused to rebuild the entire system. Her defence was that rebuilding the procedure would take several months and a lot of resources, which she didn’t have then.

The TTFB of the website was 5 seconds on Godaddy WordPress Optimized hosting.

This was my first project of core WordPress optimization, which ultimately resulted in 400ms TTFB on a $20 DigitalOcean server.

I doubled their monthly visitors within the first six months of joining.

Responsibilities:

  • SEO optimizations: Hired and managed freelancers to build backlinks and make both on-page and off-page SEO optimizations.
  • System Update & Maintenance: Developed custom WordPress functions to accommodate new feature requests without degrading the website’s performance. Outsourced developers on-demand.
  • Interviews & Videography: Taken interviews and taken videos of interviews, edited and publish them.
  • App development: Created and published iOS and Android apps using webview.
  • Attended PR meetings on behalf of the founder. Created marketing materials, such as VFX commercials, posters, etc.

Toronto, Ontario

This was a small website development company.

The business owner would send website design and development projects with instructions. A frontend developer and I would finish them promptly. There was no corporate structure. This is one of my first jobs since I moved to Canada in January 2017.

I’ve built websites and online systems using WordPress, Laravel, Zend, and other frontend and backend frameworks.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

Miami, Florida

I met Sean Karshis through Upwork. He loved my work and gave me a more stable opportunity to learn to code and design like a pro. Sean is a great CTO and was an excellent mentor to me. Helped me find my talents and appreciate them.

I’ve designed, optimized, and advertised websites of massive corporations because of this opportunity. I’ve also received a lot of referrals at a later date from Sean.

Before this point, I would develop websites through Wix, Joomla, Drupal or WordPress without doing a lot of programming. I would modify existing codes to get my expected result. But while working for Original Impressions, I started creating my own code from scratch.

I couldn’t work two jobs right after moving to Canada while also going to York University. However, Sean had referred over five clients in 2017 & 2018.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

Toronto, Ontario

I started working with Chaker Khazaal through his website project in 2015. He founded Chalex Solution the same year and employed me as a Digital Marketing Manager.

I’ve created and marketed over 50 websites during this time. Some of the websites include:

  1. Princess Firyal of Jordan’s website
  2. Duggal Visual Solutions
  3. LebMASH

All the websites were built on WordPress, using starter themes & Advanced Custom Fields. Some were built on themes such as X, Avada, Divi, etc. Moreover, I’ve created digital marketing materials for some of their corporate customers.

Both founders moved to different businesses/practices, and I also moved to another company.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

My very first registered company. I just turned 18 that year and wanted to build something I am good at.

We had three developers and a marketer in the very beginning. We couldn’t close any deal in Bangladesh – because having a website in 2015 for a Bangladeshi business was unnecessary fanciness. People weren’t familiar with e-commerce or online marketing. We had a few projects from Canada, USA and Australia through mediums such as freelancer.com and upwork.com.

However, this gave me a great insight on apparent things to avoid that set a business up for failure.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

Montreal, Quebec

My first North American website design company. I’ve developed over ten websites while working for this company. Some of the websites include:

  1. Trading News and blog
  2. Pediatric clinic
  3. Game developer company
  4. Equipment rental company
  5. Restaurant

Most of my developments were using WordPress with some PHP and CSS modifications. However, I’ve had to customize a theme to support the equipment rental website’s multi-site(French & English). We didn’t have quick translate WordPress plugins in 2014.

I became busy with my studies as my 12th-grade public exam was coming up, and had to quit.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

I started my freelancing career on Odesk during this time. I’ve completed over 15 graphics and website-related projects during this time.

I was in 11th grade. I saved the money to buy my first DSLR camera, which was stolen from my car in 2020 in Toronto. However, this made me confident in my skills and aware that I can achieve anything if I set my mind.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

I taught web design through WordPress and Joomla to 2 trainers at a computer training centre. This was after my 10th-grade public exam. I had a few months of vacation and wanted to earn some money. I was well known in the small town Chandpur, where I grew up, for my knowledge in tech. This helped me get the job quickly.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

Developed multiple websites, including websites for friends’ bands or websites for local businesses. Most internet cafes and computer training centres. I’ve met with my contact at EBSL through one of these projects.

I would build the websites using Joomla, Wix, Drupal, WordPress, Weebly and other frameworks, which I have difficulty remembering. I would mostly use free shared hostings.

.co.cc or .cu.cc or .tk free domains were also popular at that time.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

The first ever computer game I played on my computer was GTA San Andreas. I loved it so much that I started customizing it using open-source GTA Editor tools from the internet. I would download free models, edit the maps, create new missions with CLEO and enjoy doing it.

My friends loved some of the missions, so I’ve decided why not publish it! So I started burning disks, printed some covers and sold them 50TK apiece. Made around 10TK per sell after vendors cut and other expenses – which was a lot for teenage me.

My grades started declining, so I stopped game development and focused on my study for a while after this.

But how am I as a person?

About Me

Introvertish workaholic. Dog parent. I love road trips, gaming, photography, and my plants. I would instead hike with my dog than go to a party.

I hate sitting around and doing nothing. Even in my free time, I try to teach my dog something new or bond over a game. Instead of skipping something I can’t fix in my everyday problems, I try to invent a solution.

Hardly stay active on social media. My last posts were pictures of my dog over a month ago. Before that? Again, pictures of my dog.

My ambition drives me and keeps me in focus.

Convinced yet?
