Expertise

How useful is a CV if I can’t explain what I do in plain language? Here’s mine – short, clear, and worth reading.

Portfolio Example

The same website design or online system doesn’t last forever, especially in this post-Covid era. Moreover, dumping all shareable projects here doesn’t give a good idea about my skills. So here are a few recent work examples that might give you goosebumps!

Development

Development

I build software that prioritises reliability, clarity, and scalability. My toolkit includes Go, Python, PHP, SQL, and JavaScript; each chosen for specific strengths rather than trends. Over the years, I’ve developed Go and Python microservices that integrate seamlessly with custom PHP frameworks through REST APIs, forming decentralised systems designed from the ground up.

I’ve engineered systems that handle real-time encrypted data flow via WebSocket protocols and applied semantic embedding for intelligent search. One of my recent projects includes a proprietary 3-axis search engine combining geometric filtering, cosine similarity, and spatial indexing within a 512-dimensional vector structure.

Performance matters to me because efficiency reflects respect for both users and infrastructure. To give perspective, a dataset of 1.7 million records on a $5 DigitalOcean VPS executes three complex regex-driven queries, during stress testing of 1 million similar requests, involving layered conditions and geometry – all in under 700 milliseconds.

UX/UI Design

UX/UI Design

My first paid design and web project was in 2014, back when UpWork was still called oDesk. Before that, I spent my high school summers building websites for local businesses. I started with Drupal, experimented with Joomla, and eventually found a long-term rhythm with WordPress.

Through experience, I’ve learned that good design is not about decoration but communication. It should guide attention, simplify choices, and feel natural to interact with. My process focuses on clarity, flow, and brand consistency. I keep colour tones limited to a few complementary variations and prioritise interfaces that look professional without feeling forced.

I can’t include every project here, but these samples reflect how I approach design: fast-loading, cohesive, and easy to navigate. Each one aims to leave a positive impression without ever overwhelming the viewer.

Cloud & Servers

Cloud & Servers

My server journey began with cPanel and WHM, back when shared hosting was the default choice. In 2016, I shifted to VPS hosting and started exploring more efficient control panels. I tested options like Ajenti, Sentora, Vesta, ZPanel, and Virtualmin before eventually settling on Webmin. By 2019, I was comfortable enough with the command line that I no longer needed a control panel at all.

I’ve been using Cloudflare since 2014, back when SSL certificates were still treated as premium features. While others charged clients for them, I made SSL a default offering long before it became the industry norm. That small shift taught me how much trust can grow from simple, reliable improvements.

Today, I design and maintain high-performance infrastructure that stays lean, fast, and secure under heavy traffic. From load balancing to reverse proxies using Varnish, Redis, OPCache, and Brotli, I focus on setups that scale smoothly without unnecessary complexity. I also work with serverless infrastructure when it makes sense – sometimes using nothing more than a free Gmail account, Google Drive, and Google Apps Script to create fully functional data pipelines that parse, process, and store information directly from incoming emails.

On the right (or below on mobile), you’ll see a simple flowchart that visualises how this site (asifur.com) is hosted. It represents the same philosophy I apply to all infrastructure: lightweight, resilient, and transparent in how it works.

3D Modeling Project from 2015

Graphics

I first picked up a camera in 7th grade using my mom’s camcorder. It could barely take clear stills, but curiosity mattered more than equipment. By 2010, I was experimenting with photo editing and even modding GTA San Andreas, creating custom missions and swapping models just to see how far I could push it. That same curiosity grew into a genuine passion for design, and by 2014, I began taking on professional graphic work.

At first, I focused on basic photo cleanup and object removal, then gradually moved into retouching, manipulation, and compositing. Around 2015, I shifted toward video and produced my first short film — a milestone that reminded me how powerful visual storytelling can be when done with intent.

In 2018, I co-founded Wizpi360, an automotive photography company where I built automated editing workflows and systems that improved both speed and consistency for the team.

Since then, I’ve directed interviews at TIFF, produced visuals for non-profits like LebMASH, and covered everything from weddings to local events. I approach each project with the same mindset: keep learning, stay adaptable, and make visuals that connect with people rather than just impress them.

Marketing

I began working in digital marketing in 2015 with Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and SEO. Over time, I started blending technical problem-solving with marketing strategy, using automation to make campaigns more consistent and measurable. In 2019, I developed a system that generated over 200,000 localised pages with unique content. Within a month, those pages reached first place on Google search results for several competitive regions.

Along the way, I’ve studied marketing and sales psychology to understand not only what works, but why people make decisions. I see marketing as more than conversion metrics; it’s about building trust, familiarity, and lasting relationships. My focus is always on creating measurable growth while keeping communication transparent.

Every marketing project I’ve managed has delivered positive ROI. I’ve never lost a recurring client due to performance issues – a record I attribute to setting honest expectations and backing them with consistent results.

Since January 2016 Mr. Rahman has demonstrated reliability, eagerness to learn, and strong design and programming skills on several jobs; we very much hope to continue our relationship and grow the extent of our work together.

Literally, one of the best I have worked with. Asif is just great, no words would do him justice.

Asif’s marketing techniques has almost doubled our monthly new patient acquisition since the begining of the pandemic. This is an amazing result and everyone at RWD is thankful for his services.

Business

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. Back in high school, instead of taking a typical summer job, I built websites for local vendors. That early decision set the tone for how I approach business today – with curiosity, independence, and a focus on solving real problems.

Over the years, I’ve founded and contributed to multiple ventures that have grown into long-term, self-sustaining operations. Each one taught me something different about leadership, markets, and timing. I’ve read the theory and tested it in practice enough to know that no single formula works for every business. The key is building systems that adapt and scale while keeping people and process aligned.

I specialise in analysing and planning IT-focused businesses, integrating technology with realistic business models, and structuring workflows that keep operations efficient. My work often involves assembling teams, defining infrastructure, and setting up automation that helps small companies operate with the precision of larger ones.

Whether it’s product strategy for a startup or streamlining processes for an existing agency, I approach each project with one goal in mind: make the system work smarter, not just harder.

Experience

I grew up in an environment where computers were seen as expensive distractions. At one point, even my parents thought I was wasting my future by spending so much time on them. That mindset didn’t last long – and neither did any doubts about what I was capable of achieving.

Developed and managed the full digital infrastructure for a dental clinic, including new patient intake and management system, automated feedback requests, and a virtual waiting room. Built bulk email tools, streamlined patient communication, and created marketing assets that significantly reduced bounce rate and increased engagement. Managed online and offline branding, social media, and SEO strategies that boosted search rankings and patient trust. Designed and executed ad campaigns using targeted visuals and video to drive acquisition. Within months, new patient intake tripled and the clinic reached full capacity.
Developed and managed the pharmacy and clinic’s full web presence and patient management infrastructure. Built a secure, serverless system integrating booking with payments, patient records, and automated feedback workflows. Implemented virtual waiting rooms and multiple branded microsites to expand online consultation reach. Optimised system performance and uptime while maintaining compliance and data security. Monthly visitors tripled, bounce rate dropped significantly, and overall search visibility grew nearly tenfold.
Developed and maintained the clinic’s full digital infrastructure, replicating and improving on the systems built for SK Dental. Managed online presence, SEO, and ad campaigns across Google and Instagram to increase visibility and patient engagement. Consistently produced and refreshed website content, blog posts, and creative assets to sustain ranking and audience retention. Improved reputation through review management, strategic branding, and performance reporting. Supported the hiring process and helped expand the team, doubling new patient acquisition within six months.
I architect and oversee the development of a large-scale platform connecting vendors, consumers, and influencers. The project involves advanced systems built with PHP (custom framework), Go, Python, JavaScript (AJAX, WebSockets), and MySQL, running on AWS, DigitalOcean, Cloudflare, and Google Cloud. Core features include proprietary search algorithms, automated verification systems, secure session management, and real-time communication infrastructure. Development integrates Postfix/Dovecot mail systems, data collection automation, and custom rate limiters for performance and security. This is an ongoing confidential project, and technical specifics beyond the public scope at nubtle.com cannot be disclosed.
I led development of internal systems, client platforms, and automation tools that scaled recurring revenue tenfold. Built over 100 client websites and engineered a custom billing, reporting, and SEO automation system that generated 200,000 geo-targeted pages across North America. Developed lead generation and competition analysis tools using PHP, Python, and JavaScript, supported by MySQL and cloud infrastructure. Managed IT operations, implemented new onboarding workflows, and streamlined client servicing. Collaborated with the CEO and board to optimise operations, hire globally, and deploy strategies that improved efficiency, acquisition, and retention.
I built systems and processes that streamlined automotive marketing workflows across photography, editing, and client delivery. Developed automated collaboration tools, a customer portal for project management, and a 360-degree photo generator that integrated seamlessly into dealer websites. Engineered invoicing automation, optimized photo processing pipelines, and maintained high-speed turnaround from capture to delivery within 24 hours. Managed infrastructure, billing, and team coordination while also handling photography and client relations when needed. Technologies included PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and cloud-based automation tools for workflow efficiency.
I worked directly with the founder to stabilise and scale a high-traffic WordPress platform built on legacy plugins and poor optimisation. Re-engineered backend performance, reducing TTFB from 5 seconds on GoDaddy hosting to 400ms on a $20 DigitalOcean server. Led SEO initiatives, hired and managed employees, and doubled monthly visitors within six months. Developed custom WordPress features, mobile apps (iOS and Android via WebView), and handled video production, interviews, and PR support to strengthen brand presence.
Worked as a full-stack developer at a small web development company, building websites and online systems using WordPress, Laravel, Zend, and various frontend frameworks. Collaborated with a frontend developer to deliver client projects quickly and accurately based on provided specifications. Focused on clean, maintainable code and reliable performance across multiple frameworks. This role marked my first professional experience in Canada after moving in 2017.

I met Sean Karshis through Upwork. He loved my work and gave me a more stable opportunity to learn to code and design like a pro. Sean is a great CTO and was an excellent mentor to me. Helped me find my talents and appreciate them.

I’ve designed, optimized, and advertised websites of massive corporations because of this opportunity. I’ve also received a lot of referrals at a later date from Sean.

Before this point, I would develop websites through Wix, Joomla, Drupal or WordPress without doing a lot of programming. I would modify existing codes to get my expected result. But while working for Original Impressions, I started creating my own code from scratch.

I couldn’t work two jobs right after moving to Canada while also going to York University. However, Sean had referred over five clients in 2017 & 2018.

I started working with Chaker Khazaal through his website project in 2015. He founded Chalex Solution the same year and employed me as a Digital Marketing Manager.

I’ve created and marketed over 50 websites during this time. Some of the websites include:

  1. Princess Firyal of Jordan’s website
  2. Duggal Visual Solutions
  3. LebMASH

All the websites were built on WordPress, using starter themes & Advanced Custom Fields. Some were built on themes such as X, Avada, Divi, etc. Moreover, I’ve created digital marketing materials for some of their corporate customers.

Both founders moved to different businesses/practices, and I also moved to another company.

Dhaka, Bangladesh

Montreal, Quebec

My first North American website design company. I’ve developed over ten websites while working for this company. Some of the websites include:

  1. Trading News and blog
  2. Pediatric clinic
  3. Game developer company
  4. Equipment rental company
  5. Restaurant

Most of my developments were using WordPress with some PHP and CSS modifications. However, I’ve had to customize a theme to support the equipment rental website’s multi-site(French & English). We didn’t have quick translate WordPress plugins in 2014.

I became busy with my studies as my 12th-grade public exam was coming up, and had to quit.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

I taught web design through WordPress and Joomla to 2 trainers at a computer training centre. This was after my 10th-grade public exam. I had a few months of vacation and wanted to earn some money. I was well known in the small town Chandpur, where I grew up, for my knowledge in tech. This helped me get the job quickly.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

Developed multiple websites, including websites for friends’ bands or websites for local businesses. Most internet cafes and computer training centres. I’ve met with my contact at EBSL through one of these projects.

I would build the websites using Joomla, Wix, Drupal, WordPress, Weebly and other frameworks, which I have difficulty remembering. I would mostly use free shared hostings.

.co.cc or .cu.cc or .tk free domains were also popular at that time.

Chandpur, Bangladesh

The first ever computer game I played on my computer was GTA San Andreas. I loved it so much that I started customizing it using open-source GTA Editor tools from the internet. I would download free models, edit the maps, create new missions with CLEO and enjoy doing it.

My friends loved some of the missions, so I’ve decided why not publish it! So I started burning disks, printed some covers and sold them 50TK apiece. Made around 10TK per sell after vendors cut and other expenses – which was a lot for teenage me.

My grades started declining, so I stopped game development and focused on my study for a while after this.

But how am I as a person?
